Studies prove positive properties of jogging

It showed that joggers had a 30 percent lower risk of death. The probability that a non-jogger will die of cardiovascular disease is significantly higher than for joggers, at 45 percent. The key here is to keep up a regular routine. Around 60 minutes of running per week is recommended. This means that you need to lace up your jogging shoes five times a week for around 15 minutes, spread over the days of the week. If you prefer to jog twice a week, you should run for 30 minutes. For experienced runners, this equates to around two five-kilometer runs.

Slow and steady towards success

The most important thing is to get rid of the idea that jogging is difficult and exhausting. If you build up your workload slowly, you won't have any trouble managing the health-promoting distance in the long term. The sooner you integrate the sport into your everyday life, the greater the health benefits and the easier it is to stay motivated. So here are a few tips for a successful start as a jogger:

  • Stalk to your doctor and get a thorough check-up.
  • Start slowly and build up your fitness, for example with 150 minutes of moderate walking or jogging a week and gradually add in short, fast phases.
  • Choose the right clothes, that is, comfortable and not too warm, as well as suitable footwear.
  • When you start jogging, start with intervals of five to ten minutes, then walk and run again. Longer distances and speed will come naturally.
  • Avoid injuries. The goal is to integrate sport into your everyday life on a permanent basis.
