The practice clinic for Diagnostics and Preventive Medicine in Bornheim near Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf has specialized in complete health checks (Check-up) and has thus gained nationwide recognition.

The doctors The practice clinic has been continuously listed in the Leading Medicine Guide Germany among the 2009 leading physicians in Germany since 100.

A 'check up' is defined as "a physical examination", which can be meaningfully translated as "comprehensive medical screening".

All those with statutory health insurance are entitled to a health examination every two years from the age of 35.

However, this check-up from statutory health insurance companies only includes a few examinations and is therefore in no way a complete check-up.

In addition to collecting the patient’s medical history and a physical examination, only the determination of blood sugar, cholesterol and a urine urine strip test. Even such important basic tests as a ECG or lung function are not mandatory in this preventive examination for those with statutory health insurance.

The practice clinic for diagnostics and preventive medicine in Bornheim also carries out check-ups for those with statutory health insurance. In our practice clinic for diagnostics and preventive medicine in Bornheim, we also carry out this minimal check-up on those with statutory health insurance upon request.

However, we recommend further preventive examinations, such as sonography of the abdominal organs or color ultrasound of the heart, the so-called Echocardiography. In our opinion, a color duplex examination of the neck vessels and the leg arteries is absolutely necessary to clarify the vascular status. This is the only way to detect vascular calcification at an early stage and to take appropriate measures, such as changing your lifestyle: stopping smoking, losing weight, exercising and Sport.

Even a medical layman can understand that determining cholesterol and blood sugar levels alone does not provide a reasonable statement about a person's state of health.

As a supplement to the laboratory tests, we recommend at least having the inflammation values, the blood count and the liver and kidney values determined. The "complete check-up" that we consider to be useful is usually covered by private health insurance companies. Unfortunately, statutory health insurance companies only cover a very small part of these preventive examinations.
