vision test with perimetry

Concept Definition
vision test with perimetry

We carry out the test using the Rodatest 302 vision tester. We check your near and far vision. We also carry out a computer vision test, and we check your contrast and glare sensitivity as well as your spatial vision.

With the Ishahara color test we rule out red-green color blindness.

Perimetry measures the extent of the visual field. The visual field is the area that can be seen when the eye is still (without eye movement).

We carry them visual field examination with the so-called static perimetry. This perimeter is computer-controlled. During the examination, small points of light light up at different points in a circle that the patient fixes his eyes on. The patient indicates with a test button when he has seen a light mark. A computer connected to the perimeter records both the strength and the location of the light stimuli presented as well as the patient's response.

Visual field defects occur particularly in cases of glaucoma.

Since this usually involves visual field defects at the edge of the visual field, the patient does not notice this defect. Computer-assisted perimetry can diagnose such visual field defects at an early stage. If glaucoma is not treated, it progresses and eventually affects central vision, which is particularly important.
