Stroke

A Stroke is a sudden interruption of blood flow to the brain (ischemia) or a bleeding in the brain, affecting a specific area.

As a result of the stroke, neurological deficits occur, such as loss of consciousness or hemiplegia, speech or swallowing disorders.

The nerve cells in the corresponding areas are damaged or even die.

Slightly damaged cells can partially regenerate, dead cells cannot be replaced. An important screening is color Doppler duplex sonography of the neck vessels to detect premature vascular calcification (arteriosclerosis).
