Bornheim

Concept Definition
Bornheim

The city Bornheim consists of 14 districts, which are home to 50 inhabitants. The city is conveniently located between Cologne and Bonn and is part of the particularly scenic foothills. Some districts are located directly on the Rhine. Bornheim combines urban and rural structures and, due to its attractiveness, is one of the fastest growing cities in Germany.

The number of inhabitants rose by around 1980% between 2007 and 50. This makes Bornheim the third largest city in the Rhein-Sieg district. It is divided into the following 14 districts: Bornheim, Dersdorf, Hemmerich, Brenig, Hersel, Kardorf, Rösberg, Merten, Sechtem, Roisdorf, Üdorf, Walberberg, Waldorf and Widdig. Bornheim's scenic attractiveness comes from its location between the Rhine and the foothills.

The convenient location is based on the good local connections to Cologne and Bonn with the city train line 18 (so-called Vorgebirgsbahn) and line 16 (so-called Rheinuferbahn). Bornheim is easily accessible for drivers coming from Cologne via the Wesseling motorway junction on the A555. Coming from Bonn, take the Bornheim exit. The most famous person to have lived in Bornheim was Heinrich Böll, who is also buried there.

The nearest airports are Cologne/Bonn Airport and Düsseldorf Airport. The neighboring communities are: Brühl, Weilerswist, Swisttal, Alfter, Bonn and Wesseling.

19 hotels and guest houses are available to the city's guests. There is a large indoor swimming pool and a golf course. All school facilities are available in the town: comprehensive school, high school, secondary school and primary school as well as an adult education center.
