Long Post COVID Health Check
Long Post COVID Health Check to identify long-term damage and symptoms
After a corona infection, 10-20% of patients develop a secondary disease with long-term symptoms. If symptoms persist for more than 4 weeks after infection, it is called long-COVID syndrome. Furthermore, one speaks of a post-COVID syndrome when the persistent symptoms last longer than 12 weeks. Both diseases are simply referred to as long-COVID (LC).
Long Post COVID: Symptoms
The most common long-term symptoms are: fatigue syndrome (fatigue), chest tightness, shortness of breath, cardiac arrhythmia, smell and taste disorders, muscle pain, headache, cough, joint pain, thrombosis, abdominal pain, hair loss, insomnia, anxiety, depression, attention loss of concentration and dizziness.
Long Post COVID: Therapy
So far, there is no solid evidence on how long Long-COVID should be treated. Therefore, the goal of treatment should be to relieve symptoms and avoid chronicity. Most patients recover spontaneously or experience significant symptomatic relief as the disease progresses. Taking ginkgo supplements can sometimes relieve neurological symptoms and fatigue. There is also early evidence that booster shots can alleviate symptoms. Therefore, those who have recovered should also be vaccinated in good time. An interval of 3 months after infection is recommended.
